How it works:
• Water is stored at the base of the planter in a reservoir.
• The inner pot sits in this reservoir, gradually drawing water up to the plant roots.
• As the water in the reservoir is depleted, the indicator will lower - showing you exactly how much water is left.
• When it hits the bottom, your plant is asking for a refill.
• We've designed it to ensure the growing material doesn’t get too wet, maintaining the right balance of water and air to create the ideal conditions for strong, healthy root growth.
Using with soil:
• We recommend using the platform insert and nylon wick with soil, for optimal water and air balance.
• Add your plant and soil into the clear pot, and add water to the outer pot.
• Water is wicked up through the nylon wick and into the soil. As the plant uses the water, the indicator on the front of the planter will gradually lower. Once it hits the bottom its time to refill the pot with water.
Using with semi-hydro:
• Our planters are also great for semi-hydro (soil-free) growing materials. Use with leca, lechuza pon, perlite or pumice.
• We recommend removing the platform insert when growing with these materials, for a better balance of water and air. The soil-free material will sit directly in the water reservoir and act as the wick.
• After planting the process is much like soil, but you'll need to add nutrients to the water since semi-hydro materials lack them.
